01 · The moment

It starts with a message you didn't expect.

A password change you didn't make, a payment you don't recognise, or a code you never asked for. Your stomach drops. This is where most people panic, and it's exactly what scammers are counting on.

02 · Triage

Breathe. Tell us what happened.

There's no form and no account to create. Tap the closest match and you get a plan written for exactly that situation, with the most urgent step first.

03 · Lock down

Take back control, one tick at a time.

Get back in, change the password, switch on 2-step verification and kick out anyone who shouldn't be there. You can see your progress as you go.

04 · Report

Tell the right people, first time.

Call your bank on 159 and report to Report Fraud, then keep the reference number. Every link goes straight to the official service, with no middlemen.

05 · Protected

Then we keep watch, so it doesn't happen again.

Protect scans the dark web for your details around the clock and removes you from data broker sites. If anything leaks, you hear first, along with a fix-it plan.

been leaked?

Check it against more than 900 million passwords exposed in real breaches. You can watch exactly what leaves your device, and your password never does.

  • 01Your password is scrambled (hashed) on your device.
  • 02Only the first 5 characters of that scramble are sent, and thousands of passwords share them.
  • 03The match is made back on your device, using the open Pwned Passwords service.

03 Why BeenHacked

Calm help.
Real protection.

Panic makes people click the wrong thing. Every plan puts the single most important step first, in plain English, with a direct line to the right official service.

8Recovery plans

Most hacks use details that leaked months earlier. Protect scans breach dumps and criminal marketplaces for your emails, phones and passwords around the clock, and tells you exactly what to fix.

24/7Monitoring

We have no trackers, never cold-call and never charge "money recovery" fees. You can see everything we hold about you and delete it in one click.

06 Our promises

Radically transparent.
Hold us to it.

People who've just been scammed are often targeted again, so we're clear about what we will and won't do.

01

Never your passwords

We'll never ask for a password, PIN or code by phone, email or chat. If someone claiming to be us does, it's a scam.

02

Never "money recovery"

No legitimate service charges upfront to get stolen money back. Your bank and Report Fraud are the right routes, and both are free.

03

Never a cold call

We never phone out of the blue. We only call back when you ask us to, at a time you choose.

04

Always the official source

Every step links straight to the real recovery page or helpline, with no middlemen and no affiliate links.

05

Your data, your call

We never sell or share your data. You can see everything we hold and delete it in one click.

06

Plain English, always

No jargon and no scare tactics. Getting hacked is common, it isn't your fault, and it's fixable.

Spot a "recovery" scam

Scammers target people who've just lost money. Walk away if anyone:

  • promises to get your money back for an upfront fee
  • claims to be the police or your bank and asks you to move money to a "safe account"
  • DMs you offering to "hack back" your account
  • asks for a code that was just texted to you
  • wants remote access to your computer to "trace the hacker"

Checked November 2026. Report Fraud replaced Action Fraud in England, Wales & Northern Ireland. In Scotland, report fraud to Police Scotland on 101.

08 Questions

Straight
answers.

Is it really free? What's the catch?

The recovery plans, password check and helpline directory are free with no sign-up, and they'll stay that way. We make money from the optional Protect plan, which is for people who want ongoing monitoring once things have settled down.

Are you the police or the government?

No. We're an independent UK service built by cyber security professionals. We point you to the official bodies (your bank, Report Fraud, the NCSC and specialist helplines) and make them easy to reach.

Can you get my money back?

We can't, and be very wary of anyone who says they can for a fee. Your best chance is to call your bank straight away on 159. Since October 2024, UK banks must reimburse most victims of authorised push payment (APP) scams, up to £85,000.

Is it safe to type my password into the checker?

Yes. It's scrambled on your own device, and only the first 5 characters of the scramble are sent. You can watch it happen live. If a password does turn out to be leaked, stop using it everywhere.

What do you know about me right now?

Nothing. This page sets no tracking cookies and loads no analytics or ad scripts. Your checklist progress is saved in your own browser so you can come back to it, and Reset wipes it.

What if someone is watching my screen?

Some people come to us because of sextortion, stalkerware or an abusive partner. On those plans a Quick exit button appears. Tap it, or press Esc twice anywhere on the site, and this page is instantly replaced with the BBC weather. If you're in danger, call 999.

It's fixable.Let's fix it.

Thousands of people in the UK are hacked every day, and it isn't a reflection on you. Your free plan takes about ten minutes.
